Juli Buxbaum is the Instructor of Horn at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas where she works with applied horn students, conducts horn ensembles, and performs as a member of the Arkansas State Faculty Brass Quintet.
As a professional musician, Juli has freelanced and taught throughout the Phoenix valley extensively. She has been principal horn with two theater companies in Phoenix, Arizona, the Arizona Broadway Theater and Scottsdale Musical Theater Company. Orchestral engagements include appearances with the Tucson Symphony, West Valley Symphony, Scottsdale Philharmonic, and ProMusica Arizona.
An avid chamber musician, Juli is a founding member of the Phoenix Brass Collective (formerly known as the Burning Brass). She has also toured with groups internationally in Japan, Switzerland, and Germany, where she was a guest artist for the Saarburger Serenaden Music Festival. Past chamber music experience includes fellowships with the Raphael Méndez Brass Institute (2016) and the Bay View Music Festival (2011). Solo accomplishments include placing as a semi-finalist in the university division of the International Horn Competition of America.
Juli received both a DMA (2018) and MM (2016) in Horn Performance from Arizona State University and holds a BM (2014) in Music Education from Oklahoma State University. Her primary teachers include Lanette Lopez-Compton and John Ericson.
